Gliding diatoms

Diatoms are microalgae responsible for nearly 50% of the oxygen produced on our planet, which makes them a vital piece of Earth's ecosystem. Diatoms is a very diverse group composed of species with widely different sizes, shapes and movements.

With Kirsty Wan and Karen Bondoc-Naumovitz, I investigate the gliding motility of Seminavis robusta diatoms, particularly the effects of light stimuli of different intensities and wavelengths.
